Upon leaving the jungle, treacherous train rides, marked by cold and cartel danger, were particularly daunting. In Veracruz, the mother experienced what she claims to be the worst moment of the trip and her entire life when one of their daughters was almost kidnapped. This incident reminded the family of the risks they faced on their path to a better life.
